Beat the heat this summer...
...by plunging into cool theater with the 9th annual
Festival of Independent Theatres (FIT) at the
Bath House Cultural Center at White Rock Lake!
July 13 - August 5, 2007
This summer's Festival of Independent Theatres invites patrons to "Take the Theater Plunge" for a play line-up that will include nine local theater companies performing ten plays - each about one hour in length. The festival appeals to lifelong theater fans as well as newbies wanting to experience something a little different on hot summer weekends. Last year, Lawson Taitte of The Dallas Morning News ranked FIT in his "Tope Five" favorite theater events for 2006.
Throughout it history, FIT has been praised for its inclusion of plays that have never been seen (or rarely seen) in North Texas. This year's line-up is no exception with Thornton Wilder's The Wreck on the Five-Twenty-Five and the regional premiere of David Hare's The Blue Room (rated NC-17).
The summer fest also offers several works by local playwrights including David Goodwin's The Ylla (a new stage adaptation of Ray Bradbury's Martian Chronicles), Vickie Caroline Cheatwood's Home Front, Valerie Brogan Powell's Sidhe, Robin Armstrong's Smoldering Embers and Christie McFadden's I'm Not Here.

FIT
was created in 1999 as an outlet for smaller companies without
a permanent performance space to give them an opportunity
to produce seldom seen, new, or avant-garde works. FIT exists
to promote awareness and growth of Dallas area theatre through
collaboration, participation and cultivation.
