20th Anniversary Celebration

1981-2001

The Sammons Center for the Arts, Dallas Visual Art Center & Bath House Cultural Center will celebrate their 20th anniversaries on August 11th. These three centers have been major contributors to the arts in Dallas. Each center has a unique mission and unique programs that support the work of individual artists and arts organizations. On August 11th, they will host a joint celebration, reflecting on the past two decades of their service to the arts.


Saturday August 11th

Art Centers Progressive Birthday Party.
Joint open houses between three of the major art centers in Dallas all of which are celebrating their 20th Anniversaries this year: the Bath House Cultural Center, Dallas Visual Arts Center and the Sammons Center for the Arts. Each center will be showcasing what makes them shine during the progressive open houses with entertainment, exhibits and cheer.

Starting at Dallas Visual Arts Center from 3-5 pm; an afternoon of exploration where children and adults alike can create art highlighting the number 20.

Moving to Bath House Cultural Center from 4-6 pm to enjoy the gallery exhibition, artists presentations and multimedia retrospectives of past performances and exhibits.

Ending up at the Sammons Center for the Arts from 5-7 pm. Join us for a CD release party for the first Sammons Jazz compilation CD, tours of the historic building and a live jazz combo playing in Meadows Hall, our largest venue.

20th Anniversary Retrospective Art Exhibit
August 9-25

More than 50 artists grace the walls and environment of the Bath House,including: Eliseo, Roy Cirigliana, Diana Marquis, Leticia Huerta, Stewart Cohen David Hickman, Carolyn Brown and Brian Larney. This exhibition was curated by current gallery manager Enrique Fernández C. with Teri Aguilar, manager of BHCC from 1989-1998.


Friday, August 10th (6-8 PM)

Opening Reception for Bath House Cultural Center 20th Anniversary Alumni Exhibit that recalls 50+ artists whose creative expressions added to the life and identity of the Bath House. The artists and their work were significant to the mission and purpose of the cultural center.

Piano concert and CD release party for Dallas pianist Marsha Webb's new CD entitled "White Rock"-co-sponsored by the Bath House Cultural Center and "For the Love of the Lake".

Saturday August 18th (7:30 PM)

Bath House Cultural Center Alumni Performance Jam Sample 20 years of Dallas' best theater, music, dance and literature as 15 Bath House favorites share the stage in this buffet of entertainment.

Beardsley Living Theatre; Elizabeth Ellis-storyteller; jazz harpist Cindy Horstman; The Writer's Garret; Filipino Folk Arts Theater; Echo Theater; performance artists/dancers Peggy Lamb & Martha Murphy Hall; Venezuelan harpist Carlos Guedes; jazz saxophone player Joseph Vincelli; playwright Valerie Brogan; Ground Zero Theater Company; Conte de Loyo ¡Flamenco Olé! Student Dance Company; and Peeler Rose Puppets.
