The
artists featured in this exhibition are representing the Del Rio
area and vicinity. This show displays the works of 7 artists from
this isolated Texas area.
The artists offer a view, a perspective and an expression of the
vague vastness that is their geographic area. The contrast that
opposites the structural awesomeness from a small town to that
of the big city.
One of the uniqueness identifying the Del Rio border surroundings
is the obvious distant separation from everyone and everywhere.
The artists are placed one hundred and fifty miles away from a
substantial size city. They are positioned in the middle of a
purple sage terrestrial galaxy. Between this lavender brush, mostly
at night and in the moonlight, the many stories of some real and
some invisible people secretly happen away from the rest of the
busy world.
There are questions about their section of land, and its dwellers,
and its wonderers, and some of its peculiar history. The artist
are very well positioned to express that mystery.
Artists:
Irene
Aguirre Arista, Martha Gonzalez-Stitts, Adrián Jesús
Falcón, Rudy Peña, Manuel Retana, Cris Escobar and
Gustavo Gonzalez.
