TIERRA
MIA (My Homeland) is a collection of gelatin silver print photographs
by Mexican photographer and filmmaker Pablo Esparza.
The photographs
represent a very personal and sensitive exploration of the Mexican
culture. The simple, yet highly dignified life of the rural Mexican
is the subject of Mr. Esparza's work. As a product of his culture,
he seeks to bring attention to its nobility through carefully
selected compositions, which investigate both its ancient derivations
and its contemporary realities.
The personalities
captured by Mr. Esparza's lens suggest the innocence still evident
in the small communities of Mexico. Mr. Esparza's hometown, San
Luis Potosí, located between Mexico City and Guadalajara,
is the setting for most of his photographs.
