"I find myself captivated by ideas dealing with the interdependencies of created beings and their balance or imbalance with Nature. This said, my artwork usually contains elements of both peace and stress and often illuminates the mysterious and tenuous strengths that these relations hold.
More recently, my work has been dealing with adaptation regarding land relationships. I use kinetic sculpture to discuss co-habitability vs. invasiveness and indigenousness vs. non-nativity. Ecological change created through the behavior of humanity, past and present, enter the work as backdrops and subjects of consideration. Nature, as she reconfigures habitats, balances and forges fresh associations. These themes are manifested in my work, regardless of the location in which I happen to be working. The impact of my creations, my theme, my portrayal, can’t help but be flavored, no matter what my immediate environment or local setting.
For the past year I have been living in the Mississippi Delta region of eastern Arkansas where it would be artificial to separate the people from the place. The present collection offers images and ideas centered in the Delta but which reverberates more broadly."
