The
Bath House Cultural Center presents Phoenix Rising, a multi-media
art exhibition presented by the Phoenix Group of Dallas.
THE PHOENIX GROUP started in 2001 when a group of 8 artists -mostly
strangers to each other- came together to explore the concept
of reinventing themselves as artists. What emerged was a small
and closely bonded community called The Phoenix Group.
For the past three years, the organization has helped each within
the group to discover or rediscover their own voices and visions
as artists. The mutual support, exchange of information and motivation
has given each group member the confidence and courage to step
out in new directions, exploring new capabilities and expanding
limits. This exhibition is the first fruit of that community.
The Phoenix Group feels that the Bath House Cultural Center is
very accessible, reaching out to the community and encouraging
community involvement. The last few years have been a difficult
for our country and for many of us as individuals. The result
of this groups experience has been to instill a future focus
and a strong feeling of hope.
The artists whose work will be represented in the exhibition are:
Ann Adams, Diana Chase, Sheila Cunningham, Annie Davis, Pat
Payton, Susan Roberts, Monica SeMarier and Elena Shoemaker.
A RECEPTION WITH THE ARTISTS will be held on Sunday, March 7,
2004 from 2 to 5 PM. Reception patrons will also be able to attend
the free White Rock Rhythms jazz concert featuring BL
Lacerta and Jazz Combo # 1 at 2 PM. Both, the exhibition and
the opening reception are free and open to the public.
