About the show:

“Close to Home,” an exhibition of pigment ink Giclée images by Dallas photographer and designer John Sealander, explores the idea that inspiration, beauty and understanding can almost always be found right in front of your nose.  This series of iconic East Dallas images chronicles one of the city’s most interesting and often overlooked areas, featuring a diverse variety of subjects, all located within easy walking distance of the artist’s studio.

A song written by Mr. Sealander inspired the title of the show.

Close to Home
by John Sealander

Verse 1:
You don’t need to go to Paris.
You don’t need to go to Rome.
Everything you want and need is
so close to home.

Look outside your window.
Open up your door.
Take a look at what you find
And then go look for more.

You can find a rainbow
inside a pile of dirt.
You can find an answer
to a world of hurt.
Look for inspiration.
Paint or write a poem.
Remember your heart is close to home.

Chorus:            You can’t find what you’re looking for
                        until you learn to see.
It doesn’t matter where you live,
or who you choose to be.

(repeat)
