Framed Stage Pictures is an art exhibition that showcases the artwork of Luana Aldrete, Samuel Brian Beck, Misha Brown, Bryan Bullard, Usha Cottrell, Lola Kantor and Keith Williams. The main theme of this exhibition is the reflection of the emotional vulnerability of the human figure, male and female, antagonist and protagonist.
This exhibition captures human drama in paint, photography and sculpture. Each artist portrays man's struggles acted out on a public or private stage.
ABOUT THE ARTWORK:
BECK uses the term “Stage Pictures” to describe how directors pose their actors in a perfect photographic composition for each performance. In his work, he places circles around thickly painted figures' heads, which mimic the spotlights used in the theater to dramatize action.
ALDRETE places her large dramatic figurative wire sculpture on white or red pedestals that act as stages.
In BROWN's paintings, the artist unfolds the many layers of emotion central to domestic relationship.
Using acrylic, BULLARD paints provocative frontal figures framed with odd backgrounds that are filled with many layers of texture.
The garish colors in COTTRELL's paintings create a stage in which the harsh reality of being a woman is played out.
KANTOR's photography captures the drama and movement of the Fort Worth Hip Pocket Theatre Company in her series “Heaven on a Biscuit.”
WILLIAMS' work, explores the inner complexities of the male and female relationship in which he writes: “I want my work to reach out and create unseen views and unwanted awareness while widely avoiding cheap, blatant acts of provocation.”
