The
Flowing of Art as Life of the Community features the artists
of the 2004 White Rock Lake Artists Studio Tour. This exhibition
is presented as a preview of the official studio tour, which
takes place on October 16 and 17, 2004. The show is also presented
as part of the celebration of the Grand Opening of the new
White Rock Lake Museum, scheduled to open on September
18, 2004 at the Bath House Cultural Center.
The White Rock Lake Artists Studio Tour tradition began in
1992 when seven artists organized the first Annual East Dallas
Art Studio Tour. From the very beginning, the main goal of
the Tour has been to establish connections between the public
in general and the artists living and working in the White
Rock Lake area and surrounding neighborhoods.
The open studios create a favorable atmosphere that allows
artists to promote and sell their art and gives the public
a unique opportunity to take a more intimate look into the
work of the participating artists as they perform demonstrations
or talk about their creations.
Today, in its twelfth year, the Tour includes nearly 40 artists
and three cultural centers (the Bath House Cultural Center,
the Creative Arts Center and the White Rock Weaving Center).
The artists represent many aspects of visual art and work
in a variety of media, which include painting, sculpture,
ceramics, fiber art, photography and mixed techniques. Hundreds
of people visit the studios every October in what has become
an exciting and anticipated annual event.
The official dates for the 2004 Tour are Saturday, October
16 and 17.
